Ready for Bed uses creative, fatherly storytelling combined with AI to create a brand new story for your child every day, delivered to your inbox each evening at bedtime.
But that's not the best part.

Every story ends with two options. Your child taps one, and tomorrow night's story starts from there.
That one small decision changes how bedtime feels for both of you. Why?
Child development experts call it reward anticipation: when kids know something good is waiting, the brain starts looking forward to it. Bedtime stops being the end of the fun and becomes the moment they find out what happens next. Fewer stalls, more "Is it time yet?"
Predictable, repeated rituals help a child's nervous system recognize it's time to wind down. A story that's waiting every night, and that they had a hand in, becomes an anchor in the routine. Pajamas, teeth, story, choice, lights out.
Psychologists link a sense of agency to calm and security. Making the choice gives your child a small feeling of control at the end of the day and closes the loop, so the mind can let go. They fall asleep content, already picturing tomorrow.
Designed for real life.
It's an email. You already know how email works.
You read it to them. They cuddle up, listen, and help pick what happens tomorrow.
Short enough for little attention spans, with a real beginning, middle, and happy ending. Their sidekick and favorite places come back night after night.
A fresh story is waiting in your inbox every evening, so you can be present instead of scrambling for ideas.
If I had infinite time and energy, I would make up a story for my kid every night. In fact, for several years I did: ongoing sagas about kids and their backyard cave that opened up into worlds of dinosaurs, jungles, and talking animals. But eventually I couldn't keep it up, and didn't want bedtime to become something I dreaded, or something where I had to let my kid down.
There's something magical about a personalized story. It brings you and your child together in a way that reading a book just doesn't.
Making up your own story every night is wonderful, and for a while it's doable. But the creative juices run dry, and the bedtime story becomes one more thing on your plate, slowly turning what should be precious moments into a chore.
Parenting is hard enough. Ready for Bed takes the pressure of inventing a new story every night off your list, so you can spend your energy enjoying and connecting with your child during those special evening moments.
It's a healthy middle ground. Add as much of your own creative input as you like. But when your child is ready for bed, you can just relax and read a story you'll both enjoy, side by side.

No. I, for one, am tired of one-off apps. Stories arrive by email. Tap a choice in the email; tomorrow continues from it.
No problem. If you don't tap a choice, we'll assume you weren't able to get to that story that day, so we'll resend the same story the next day at bedtime, for your convenience. We know every family's different, and we're open to any suggestions you have about how to handle this.
Kids change fast, and a story that really engages them has to be highly tuned to their age. Each age from 3 to 9 gets its own completely different AI prompts and rules. During the beta, stories are tuned for 3-year-olds only.
There are elements of natural scariness, like wild animals and dark forests, but nothing gruesome and nothing supernatural. How scary it actually feels to your kids largely depends on how you read it.
Every story is built on a set of storytelling rules tuned to your child's age, which keeps the quality high. On top of that, each night draws a different mix from a much larger pool of storytelling techniques, so the stories never fall into the same patterns or start to feel formulaic. Then AI weaves in your child: their sidekick, their favorite places, and the choice they made last night. This is the best way we've found to ensure quality stories and unique personalization.
